Prior to the mid 15th century, the region that is now Bikaner was a barren wilderness called Jangladesh. Rao Bika established the city of Bikaner in 1488. He was the first son of Maharaja Rao Jodha of the Rathore clan, the founder of Jodhpur and conquered the largely arid country in the north of Rajasthan.

Bikaner famous please – Deshnoke: Located near the Pakistan border, the tiny hamlet gets its name from “Dus-Nok,” which means “Ten Corners.” Known to be the home of the rare pilgrimage site of the Karni Mata Temple, Deshnoke is the place where people worship rats as gods. – Rampura Haveli: This is a heritage structure which is located in the centre of Bikaner. The haveli is 400 years old, and is known for its magnificent architecture, beautiful jharokhas and minute carvings.
