Handle criticism alone
A group of donkeys is called a herd. A herd chooses the strongest donkey as their leader. In the wild, the lead donkey stands firm to prevent an attack by a wolf or other predators, to allow the rest of the donkeys of the herd to escape to a safe place. If he has to give his own life to save others, he does not panic, he gives his life. He fights with bravery. When he takes any responsibility, he performs till his last breath. It’s like a superhero of Hollywood, saving America from some disastrous creatures.
Now look at your history of leadership, how many times have you put yourself in tough situations, keeping behind your team? Have you taken any criticism of yourself and helped your team to escape? Last time, when you failed to accomplish a target, have you taken the credit of failing or given that to your hardworking team? Do you safeguard your team from getting slammed by seniors?
As you have taken the responsibility of your team, it’s proof, you are strong enough to provide them safety and security. Well, I am not talking about safety and security from wild animals, I am talking about naysayers and their negative talks. The top-level management is always ready to slam anyone without any reason. They can call any fellow to bring out their frustration. You don’t even know, even the biggest man and the strongest can be destroyed with some continuous negative thoughts. The influence of negative and harsh words is so strong, it can lead to a disaster. Many top performers may quit their job and get attached to some other organization. You will sit and watch, what happened to your smooth-running business. You won’t understand the reasons for your failure because the consequences are so destructive.
As a leader, it is up to you, whether you destroy your happiness or your squads. If you take the criticism on your shoulder, they will be safe and will appreciate you for saving them. You become a hero in their eyes. Not just from the management, your task is to protect them from the outer world too. In this damn world, there are many, to put shit in our mind. You are mentally strong but your fellow mates are not. You need to protect them from naysayers by feeding their minds with positive words. Keeping them in a positive environment is important. Once you protect them mentally and physically, they will bring massive results for you.
